But I want to know one thing, why is sincere faith considered a virtue?? It seems much more like a vice to me. > > > I try to show that the Quran is factually correct, which is why I believe > the Quran is indeed a message from God. > In Quran 7: 54 it says the universe was created by Allah in 6 days: "** *Your gurdian-Lord is Allah who created the heavens and earth in Six Days* **" But in Quran 41: 9 it says: *"Is it that ye deny Him who created the earth in TWO DAYS?" * And in Quran 41: 10 it says: *"* *He set on the (earth) Mountains standing firm high above it, and bestowed blessing on the earth, and measured therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in FOUR DAYS"* And in Quran 41: 12 *"* *So He completed them (heavens) as seven firmaments in Two days"* That's 2 for the earth 4 for nourishment and 2 for that heavens and that makes for 8 days. So did Allah make the universe in 6 days or 8? And how long is one of Allah's days anyway? In Quran 22: 47 it says: *"A day in the sight of the Lord is like a thousand years of your reckoning." * But Quran 70: 4 it says: *"The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a day the measure whereof is Fifty thousands years."* We now know that it took 13.8 billion years for the universe to get into its present state, so one of Allah's days is neither 1000 years nor 50,000 years but either either 1.72 bullion years or 2.3 billion years depending on which contradictory creation story in the Quran you like. Personally I don't like either one. > > > God lives those who humble themselves, and dislikes the arrogant. > Then God must dislike Himself. > > > God appreciates gratitude, and dislikes ingratitude. > Then God should give people something to be grateful about and stop telling His followers to set off nail bombs in airports. > once this life of trial is over, and we will no longer have any more > opportunity to work for the quality of life of our abiding future. > God likes trials? If so then God must be a fan of the scientific method and should be delighted with me for using that method to accessing the probability of His existence given the evidence that He has allowed me to see. He certainly can't hold it against me if I don't consider evidence he doesn't want me to know about, after all God is omnipotent so if He doesn't want me to know something I'm not going to know it. > > > The time we have here is precious and purposeful. > I agree. > > > Will you then not take it seriously? > Yes I think reality is precious so as an adult I'm not going to take seriously the silly superstitions of bronze age tribes just because my mommy and daddy told me to. But enough of the Quran I will now quote the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:11 : *"* *When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."* John K Clark -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Everything List" group.
