The point is that for any claim that implies a violation of the laws of
physics, a test will exist that allows one to verify or falsify the
claim. The more the claim is in conflict with down to earth physics that
describes how matter at standard conditions behave, the easier it is to
verify or falsify the claim. Things like telepathy fall within that
category of easily verifiable/falsifiable claims, while statements about
exotic phenomena like e.g. processes involving black holes may be more
difficult to verify/falsify.
The easier it is to verify/falsify a claim, the easier it becomes to
move away form lab conditions and get to strong results with less
powerful statistical methods.
