It's not "taboo". It's non-existent because we don't know what
dark-matter is. It's like saying the genetics of Big Foot are taboo
because we're not studying them. There are an infinite number to
"possibilities" that are not being studies for the simple reason that
nobody thinks they're worth the time to study. So dark-matter chemistry
is a wide open field, Phil. Go for it.
