This is a real long shot because I have never used MailEnable but in the
SMTP Virtual server in Windows you have to put an IP address in brackets
(i.e [1.1.1.1]) if you want to use it instead of a hostname.

Its worth a shot,

The debug log shows that it knows to forward email for that domain to
new server then old server.

The activity log just shows it sending to old server.

When I set up the forward I used the IP address of the new server. It
is an internal address, I do not want this server to have any external
interface. I did not add a ":25" on the end of the ip address as I
assumed that it would automatically use that port :)

When it sends to original server it sends to exch.mydomain.com, not the
ip address.

Is it configured to use port 25?

Are there any logs on the MailEnable server that would show what it is
actually trying to do?

Just one last thing before this is determined an ME problem (which of
course means I'm SOL)

When I removed the existing server for smart hosting, leaving just the
new server (to see what happened if it could not fall back on the
original server to send the email to), the reply back to the sender (my
yahoo
account) was this:

MailEnable: Message delivery has been delayed.

Message is waiting at DixonTiconderoga.com for delivery to
10.100.100.xxx

Reason: Mail Server for dixonticonderoga.com could not be contacted at
this time. MailEnable will keep trying to deliver this message and will
notify you of any progress.

Anyone know why it would say the mail server cannot be contacted even
though I could telnet from me server to exch server...is there anything
I could be missing?

Sounds like you may want to give the mailenable forum a try.. have you
restarted the mailenable services - I use it to host some of our
unimportant domains and I'm fairly sure that sort of change needs a
restart of the services?

I'm not sure it's an Exchange problem really?

Paul
