Have you set up the store maintenance schedule to run always? Have you tried right-click, Run Cleanup Agent?

The mailbox according to what the mailstore lists out is not even there. It should have a red X indicating that it is ready to be purged, if so right click it and select purge to blow it away. If you see the box, but there is no Red X check to make sure that you don't have a check in the "Do not permanently delete mailboxes..." on the Limits tab of your mailbox store.
