It prevents knowledge of what kind of server you are running. It sends and receives email both internally and externally just fine. However, during testing the SMTP server via telnet, while I am able to send a message, the initial response to the telnet request is garbled. The telnet request is: telnet ourserver 25 The response is 220*********************************************0****0*0 **********************200***0*2**0*00 After that everything works fine. Does anyone have any idea why it does this or if it will cause a problem in the future?
