Excuse my fuzzy brain, but can the scope of the IMS be set to 'this server'? If so, I believe that ought to cause the Exchange server to route outbound mail for itself given your described environment. else; I'd avoid putting any unnecessary bits into AD that you don't have to. I'd recommend doing this all in VMWare, if you don't have a copy you can download a 30 day trial. You could do all of this on 2 VMs total... 1. Install 2 instances of W2K server. 2. DCPromo one of them. 3. Install Exchange 5.5 on the machine which isn't a GC 3a. Install the IMS 3b. SP 4 4. Install the ADC. 5. Install E2K3 6. Move/create a mailbox on the new server 7. Remove the IMS This would also make a nice lab for testing and debugging in the future. It really should work just fine and worst case scenario (well, things can always get worse I suppose...) is that you remove the IMS and things don't work as I suggested. In which case, you can reinstall the IMS on the 5.5 box and configure it as it was previously. _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang=english To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
