Anyone any links to white papers on this new single instance storage? Obviously I am now going to go check the manufacturers site of bother veritas backup-exec and this comvault galaxy, but thought either of you may have some interesting read ups.
Obviously I prefer the idea of item retention and all that other jargon, only these other areas need to be explored as it may be something "the powers that be" prefer to have implemented, I don't know yet, though I feel I may have a task convincing them that there age old methods are crap :p -----Original Message----- From: Fyodorov, Andrey [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 18 June 2003 14:07 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Brick level backups Well, CommVault Galaxy allows to backup and restore individual mailboxes but does not use a brick-level approach. It preserves single instance storage by backing up a message once and then backing up all the message pointers that show who had the message in their mailbox. -----Original Message----- From: Martin Tuip [MVP] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 6:01 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Re: Brick level backups Read http://mail.tekscan.com/nomailboxes.htm and for those jumping the flame wagon say "Goosefraba" a few times first. ** Please prefix your subject header with BETA for posts dealing with Exchange 2003 ** -------------------------- Martin Tuip MVP Exchange Exchange 2000 List owner www.exchange-mail.org www.sharepointserver.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] -------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Lloyd" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Exchange Discussions" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 11:57 AM Subject: Brick level backups > Hi guys, > I just wanted to know why are brick level backups a bad idea.
