You need to ensure that you are actually using dma66. You will probably see a line like the following in your /etc/lilo.conf or /boot/grub/menu.lst: ide2=0x????,0x???? ide3=0x????,0x???? where a ? is a hex value. This indicates that you are using the dma66 controller in backwards-compatible mode. What you need to do is change it to read: ide2=dma ide3=dma (do this in a new lilo/grub entry, because if it doesn't work, you might have problems).
