Hi Jeff, I don't know if you can force Linux to show you a true connect speed or not, but if you are curious you can look in the modem logs. 26.4 to 28.8 is a very normal connect speed with a 33.6 using an ISP that is not digital. Even with digital you won't see much difference maybe a bump to 31.2. The only way to avoid the phone line 28.8 trap is to use satellite, cable or DSL connections. Pj
