A couple of weeks ago I had my modem going in Mandrake. Then something
happened. I couldn't boot into Linux any more. I tried upgrading Linux
and that didn't work. So I had to install all over again. Naturally I
lost my settings and no longer have my cable modem going. So I've been
trying to get it back for over a week now. Someone told me to try
something. What he said was to type 'draknet' at a command prompt, and I
did. Then he suggested that I post the results of what happened to this
list. So here it is:

Okay, here's what happened when I invoked draknet from a command prompt:

Changing to default
modprobe: can't locate module serial
Please wait while probing serial port...
Then it went into the configuration menu and it said:
IP address: 24.102.7.207
Netmask: 255.255.254.0
Automatic IP (and I checked the button that says [bootp/dhcp]
pr1.on.wave.home.com (my hostname)
Everything already installed
Setting network parameters OK
Bringing up Interface lo
Bringing up Interface eth0
Determining IP information for eth0
failed
[FAILED]
Everything already installed
Then back to the root.

Can any one help me? It would help if someone told me why I got the error
message. And what can I do to fix it? Thanks.
