In your adress book, any HTML capable client usually has an option: "Recipient prefers ascii mail only" which is a checkbox or whatever. If you enjoy bucking the system, fine. Just don't expect to get many replies as most already have ascii mail filtered direct to trash. Many on the lists (plural) don't run gui's either. Browsing in a console is much faster (no pics load).
