Jay, modding shocks internals is just like motor internals.

We all know there is a lot that can be done inside a motor and yet yet few risk it because of the risk of being torn down when you reach a trophy position.

Chuck, there is no question that conventional shocks will produce better performance. However I do not think we can control the costs as easily as you think. Even if you have a spec shock that is relatively low cost say, $250/shock, what is to prevent people from
modifying the internals & dynoing to their hearts content.

If someone has a way to truly control the costs I am OK with the concept. The real question is how to make it happen. Perhaps Roger Penske will subsidize F500 with a $200
single adjustable shock.

Thanks ... Jay Novak

Actually, one need NOT also go to antiroll bars and coil springs if shocks
are introduced.

The latest DSR's like Stohr's do not have any antiroll bars at all.

I happpen to think that coil springs would shorten up the tuning time for
different tracks, but they don't have to be used. One can run real shocks
with the current rubber springs.

We can also keep the shock costs low with control to where they will would
have no appreciable cost over the pressent setup with the cartefully
concocted tefllon washers, etc. in the pivot points for damping. No more
setting the drag tension on each corner before every session. Any rubber
that has much inherent damping is probably not going to last forever,
either.
