I don't know about versions of the Rotaxes like that.

Then again, the ones F500 actually uses are supposed to be around 100 HP with the way Rotax single pipe development is progressing.


It is more likely he is thinking of the AMW stories.

It is rumored to have been a 110+HP motor (when it wasn't broken) on twin pipes. The AMW 2 into 1 manifold was also rumored to have really messed up the motor's tuning.
Mike Moench might have something to add on that.

Speaking of HP, I had a solo Vee competitor tell me on Sunday that "the
rotax engine" (not sure of 494 or 493) was actully a 110 hp engine but
has to be detuned for SCCA to use it in road racing and autocross. Truth
or fiction?
