Chris - grab me at Boeing this Sunday if you want to talk about F500s on
the track (and at Solo events). I'll be giving out the work assignments
all morning, so I'll be pretty stationary.

I have a pair of F5s: one that doensn't work for Autocross and another
that doesn't work for Club Racing. Read the stuff that Chuck, Eric, Jim &
Sean worte and memorize it. On Sunday I can tell you my experiences so
you'll know everything you shouldn't do to start racing (or just re-read &
memorize Chuck, Eric, and Sean's posts).

You can definitely do both with one car cheaply & easily. You'll probably
want to keep the Elise for Boeing & you'll want a muffler for Warminster,
but otherwise you'll do OK. Steve Rosenberg is a big help in getting an
Auto-X car set up - I can go 3 seconds faster at Ripken in his Raptor than
in my own Red Devil. I just don't have the time to put into the Red Devil
based on the amount of time I spend on the Road Race car (cf. doing
everything the wrong way, but having fun doing it. It doesn't help when a
F-First & F Vee team up to remove the right side of the Road Race car).
Last Warminster event I ran pretty close times with my Road Race car (51
sec, I think) on old tires while trying to shake it down for Watkins Glen.
Of course they called a couple of runs O/C because I intentionally ignored
the slaloms, but it was the only way to really test the brakes.

The NE F5 guys are great to run with on track & they're a very helpful
bunch. A lap around the Glen in an F5 is about the most fun you can have
(almost) lying down. If you can swing it financially, take the advice to
rent from the Elders. In my experience the Florida schools are a little
better run than the other schools. Lots of experience down there, lots of
free time due to retirement.

I also may have a line on a very fast, well sorted car that might go up
for sale shortly (cheap, too). The owner - one of the nicest guys in the
paddock - is contemplating an 'upgrade'. If you're serious I'll try & put
you two in touch.
