At the risk of starting a p*ssing contest, the class has to stop with the
vintage class mentality, that's what's killing it. If everything stays the
same, then the class will die.
I bet this same conversation started when the scca change the wheelbase,
when they changed the rollbars, and everytime they change or add engines...
Yah, so what if a new design proves to be the better mouse trap? What's
stopping Lee Stohr from building the ulimate F500 withing the current rules
right now? Interest in the class, nobody new is interesting in it, hence why
numbers are down, hence why is so cheep to race.
And if the puck changes to 3", what's stopping anybody from designing a new
car around it? See above...

A - It's not a matter of 'special', it's a matter of everything from that
day forward. Sort of like the wheelbase issue.
B - You won't know if it makes a difference until somebody tries it. Look
at it this way, if it made no difference, why would you want to change? If
you believe it will give a smoother, more controlled ride, then you already
have your answer, don't you? If it won't, then it's a non-value-add change.
