There are a few who differ in this opinion. Although not designed to do so, it does limit the amount the helmet can be depressed. A few open wheelers have complemented their HANS on stopping compression in a roll over. The other good thing to do is ensuring you are low enough below the roll hoop...seems to be missing for a few people. Didn't take much to raise the hoop on my car four inches. I like my eggs not scrambled.
