I'm working on getting the car ready to do SoloSprints this coming year.
These sprints involve running on some pretty big tracks like Mosport, and
Toronto Motorsports Park, and the like. I'm wondering about gearing for the
car.
Right now, I have about a 5 to 1 ratio with a top speed of about 90mph. With
a more commonly used road course set, I would be running a 3.3 to 1 ratio
with a top speed of near 125.
Question: How well does the Kawi do in getting up to speeds like this with
numerically lower gear ratios. Does 125 only come when running downhill with
a tail wind? Does it take 5 minutes to get from 100 to 125 or some such
thing? How well does this gear set work getting out of low speed corners? I
guess I just want to know if the Kawi is strong enough to work well with
this gear setup.
