Count them up and let us know what you have now. Hope this helps.

Bill, I've got 135 large and 27 tooth small, giving me exactly 5:1 ratio. I've also got a 90 tooth large, and a 80 and a 70 but I've been told that the Kawi cannot drive the car effectively with anything less than a 90 tooth large. The 90 tooth gear gives me 3.3 : 1, but I have no experience with this gear, and I don't have a drive belt to work with it or any of the other smaller gears. When I first got the car it had the 90 tooth gear but, it wouldn't pull a sick whore of a pi$$ pot; I assumed the problem was gearing since it seemed to run OK. I changed the gears adn belt etc. and threw the belt away. It turned out my problem was with the motor. That is fixed now. Of course I don't have a belt to try the 90 tooth gear and I have no desire to spend $100 + to figure out if this will work well in a SoloSprint event. So, really I'm just wondering if the 125 mph top end comes easily with the Kawi or whether it only comes when "falling off a cliff."

BTW, why did you switch to chain drive?

JV

Bill Schmidt 88 RD Kawi (with chain drive)
