Based on snippets I've gathered from different contributors I've saved the
following list of rotax engines allowed. I am very confused, and I wonder if
someone could clarify, because I am soon going to begin the search for Rotax
power..
1. It looks like 1996 and 1997 have a 494 NON RAVE engine.
a)Is this a less powerful engine than the later 1998, 1999 and 2000
RAVE engine?
b)Are both RAVE and NON RAVE 494 engines allowed in the class?
c)Do the RAVE and NON RAVE 494 engines compete head to head?
2. The info I saw most recently in the post re. 493 donor list suggests
that there may be RAVE and NON RAVE versions of the 493 (look at the very
bottom of the list for Tony Jagodniks/Jim Libbecos contributions to the
topic.)
a)Is this correct?
b)are both versions allowed?
c)which is the better engine?
3. Finally, is this list accurate and complete as it stands?
4. Could we/should we keep an accurate list like this available somewhere,
so that twits like me aren't going asking the same questions over and over?
