New guy and I hate to stir the pot, but Ive been a VW junkie for years so seeing this thread and info I decided to talk to some of the engine builders I know. First off when I gave them all the 1915 option with the restrictions in place they said they wouldnt even bother to build it. The one builder does build a 1915 with dyno sheets at 140...but to do that it requires the bigger valves and dual carbs that are only permitted for the 1600 engine, and 9.5:1 compression. Really, making big power from VW engines is expensive and difficult. So far none of the builders I have talked to think they can make substantial gains with either of the options listed. Sure there will be some gain over what the Vees currently have but the $$ to hp ration is pretty slim.
The proposal does allow the vee folks to tap into the aftermarket and use parts that are more easily available than a quickly dwindling supply of vintage VW parts but they are by no means bringing these cars up to the leves of technology afforded to the F500s. Thanks for hearing me out :) Jim T. Quoting Jan Schmidt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Last time I checked, Mike Gray was considered one of the Nations top air > cooled vee engine builders.
