Thanks Art I will. But I know that Dick will be thinking about different
carbs he has seen over the years that will do the job with that engine. My
friend Mike Brooks had one of the very early SoloV's twenty years ago and I
think he had a carb off of a Fiat or Ferrari. I bet it worked as good or
better than what they are using now. I like what Gary K. said, if we see a
big change then we will have to find thinks to do to our cars. I am also
going to look at some of the times John was running in 2005. It was to bad
he did not run last year to see how his times would have been against a
younger driver with a top line car. Jeff Martone has a Mk VII, with 493 and
a set of Q's clutches. Maybe we will see John this year running against
Jeff! Time will tell, but by giving them so many things, we may have to
re-invent the F500. Lets see, shocks, diff! The mind can really get lost
in the things we could do!!! The sad part is it is going cost all of us in
the future. Plus we will lose the people who want to also Road Race the
same car. That is one of the reasons SCCA wanted GCR formula cars years ago
to get some of the older cars out of the garage and on the pavement. Look
at Formula Ford. Years ago they should have pushed for a FV class only and
you would see a lot of cars being run at Solo Events. I bet it would have
been one of the biggest mod class. But it is too late for that now as we
can't go back!
Also I know people that could have had a National Car (F500) for the money
they spent on not the greatest SoloV's. But they say they like to shift and
can't stand the sound of a 2 stroke. The same people have no problem going
to a F-1 race or riding sports bike with an ftermarket muffler that make a
lot more noise than our cars. Plus it is mostly the pressure they get from
their friends who just don't like our cars because of the noise. One of the
reasons I will only run a few events this year plus paying for the bike.

Hi Bob,
When you talk to Dick, make sure you tell him that a 1915cc motor will
have
to run with heads having the current 39.0mm intakes and 32.0mm exhausts
fed
by the current one two barrel carb allowance. No other improvements. Just
so
he knows the parameters we are suggesting :-)
And yes, we know the expense involved with doing most of this stuff and/or
the difficulty. The Vees are complaining about that because they feel the
expense is not worth the little improvement they will garner. Everyone has
a
complaint :-). Really, there are certain items that they should just not
bother with because of the lack of return but we wanted to give them the
options so they could make the decision. That's also why we gave them an
engine option.
