Hey Cory,
You'll have no problem adapting to the open top. My only caveat is that you
may intuitively hook your thumbs inside the "horns" of the wheel kinda like
how a cowboy hooks his thumbs in his belt loops. Too frequently I have to
think to pull my thumbs into a freer position. Safety issue. Of course, you
mileage may vary... greatly.
See ya,
Charlie and Marilyn

Subject: [F500] steering wheel - open vs closed top

After 11 years of racing, I am considering changing from a traditional
steering wheel to one with an open top. I'm a little concerned about the
transition - I don't want to be on the track, or even worse in an emergency
situation, and end up grabbing air instead of the top of the wheel. I'm
sure I would get used to it, but one mistake at the wrong time could cost
lots of $$$ or worse.

So - I'd like to ask for feedback from those of you that have raced with a
traditional wheel and switched to the open top. Was it difficult? Did you
experience anything like I described above. Has anyone tried to make the
change and couldn't get used to it or switched back for some other reason.

  Thanks as always!

  Cory
