The current mailing list - while somewhat adequate & very comfortable for the participating members - is an archaic concept that does not market the class well to outsiders. Let me repeat that - the Mailing list does not market our class well to outsiders.
I agree. I spent a while reading the f500 email archives before I signed up, but you have to be fairly interested to take that step. Forums are a lot easier to "lurk" on than the email lists, and in that way become more useful for people trying to see what its all about.
