i know Specmiata.com costs a healthy fortune to run, Jim daniels ran it out of pocket for many years at his cost, aside from some generous paid ad supporters. It was sold last week or so to saferacer.com.
the software is $0(phpBB) - $100(vbb) a year or so, a website can be as little as $25/month or as much as a few thousand. Considering the volume I would think a wise entrepeneur could make the site pay for itself and put a few bucks into his coffers for the frustration of modding it. Who mods this board and pays for it?
