Jay, ever ajusted a Desmo Quatro Valve Head? The tool to measure the belt
tension is about $900. Ducati parts are crazy!!! They do sound cool though...

Jay, I think they have wat too much torque!!!

Jay, I've raced V-twins pro class for several years, I kinda know what they
are about....
Are we talking road race v twins or cruiser motors??? V-twin road race
bike are expensive to keep going as compared to 4 bangers. I raced 4
bangers also.....
I don't know how the Duc motor fit in there, it's quite a bit longer than
a 4 cylinder motor, the CBR600rr is a very short motor, and it's tight in my
car....

Chris, all the modern Vtwins or inline twins have 6 speeds & some even
have
dry sumps.

I have actually had a Ducati engine in the back of my F500 chassis & it fits
like a dream. I think you should ride a 60 deg Vtwin they are very smooth &
do not turn 15000 rpm.

Thanks ... Jay Novak

Jay, I think a 60 degree V-twin would shake the living heck out of one of
those cars, the 2 cycle is bad enough. They are also pretty tall, high
CG's. A 90 degree v-twin like a Ducati would be better suited, but I think
it would be too long. Also most 60 degree v-twins only have 3 or 4 speeds
and they are not designed for road racing. I think you would be better off
modifying a chassis to handle a motor that was designed for road racing,
rather than re engineering an engine to make it work. Read as it would be
cheaper also....
Think of the nightmare of teching a modified engine vs a stock one?????

Another thing we might want to consider is V twin bike engines because
they
will fit in all our existing chassis. The 4 cyl bike engines will not fit
without major chassis cut up.

Now a V twin will need to be bigger than 600cc to get the speed, maybe 800cc
watercooled or 1000cc air cooled.

The big problem is that classes never seem to change. Those invested would
rather protect their investment and "go down with the ship" with ever
decreasing class sizes rather than change with the times.
See the discussion
on Apexspeed about F"D". We don't need another $45-50K class.

I am not
saying the design is even remotely right, so don't beat me up. Look at
600racing.com and see what they have done and the involved costs. Someone
should be able to design a real rule set that would allow an
f600/fd/fwhatever
that incorporates real designs without being a "spec" class and has
reasonable
cost containments built in.

Several people have done legwork into engines,
transmission, shocks, etc. Maybe we should all listen. Maybe I should just
go put on the nomex now...

Kodiak Rims ?

Jay,
They have a 10x8 with 4 inch backspace designed to clear
brakes.
They list it in the link I posted for $97.50, that sounds pretty good
for everything but the center.
I've gotta call em Monday and see how many
pounds?
Got thinking, I have 4 or 5 centers out of the dead Kodiaks,
these
might be big enough to use in the Welds? Have to
get some dimensions.....
Thanks
