Fred Travis, a faculty member at MUM, has been studying brainwave
correlates of witnessing sleep. I heard part of a talk that he gave on
this. He gets volunteers for his studies who claim to be witnessing
sleep. Before he accepts them for study, he talks to them for awhile.
He said it is fairly easy to tell who is actually having this
experience and who maybe thinks they are but they are not. He looks
for certain kinds of descriptions in the people's own words (not
Maharishi's words) and he looks for information about the experience
that is not covered in Maharishi's words. I don't know more specifics
than that. Point is, he finds varying degrees of authenticity. It
doesn't say anything about permanence, or Brahman or sidhis, but the
situation may not be as black and white as Vaj makes it out to be.
