Do you think? If anglo Patrick Gillam promotes 
himself as a meditation teacher, will he seem as 
credible as Rajiv Sudarshan? 

An Indian may have more credibility than a 
Westerner. Deepak Chopra jokes about how 
wisdom in any language is wisdom, but wisdom 
voiced in an India accent seems to carry extra weight.

Maybe the Mormon model is what would work better. 
Young male pundits go out into the big, wide world 
to spread the knowledge for a few years as part of 
their coming of age. And unlike the Mormons, the 
pundits would collect course fees for their troubles, 
dutifully sending the lion's share back to Headquarters.
