I think that's a good question. Speaking for myself, I think there was an overall positive effect. Definitely opened me up to the "field of all possibilities." And sitting in the energy field of siddhis being performed was permanently transforming IMO. On the other hand, I came into studying with him pretty convinced that although siddhis were neat, they do *not* equate to enlightenment. For me, siddhis are siddhis and enlightenment is enlightenment and the first does not imply the second. My feelings about his enlighten- ment are more based on meditating with him than on any flashy stuff he can do. Not everyone felt that way. Therefore a lot of other students got completely flashed out by the flashy stuff. For them it was more like the way Christians relate to Jesus' miracles, "Wow...lookit that, willya...the guy can turn water into wine...he must be God." People who felt this way became awfully uncritical, and just auto- matically accepted the silliest shit as a given because it was said by the "guy who could fly." Also there was a marked tendency in many people to be more interested in seeing him do flashy stuff than in their own enlight- enment. So I'd personally consider that a less-than- positive thing.
