It could also be conscience, if you know you're doing something wrong and yet 
insist on doing it, it can cause anxiety and nervousness, especially in the 
stomach.  You're stomach is trying to tell you something, and the *gut feeling* 
is a symptom of an underlying psychological conflict. 

Until the conflict is resolved the nervousness or anxiety will persist, 
sociopaths don't have this problem since they have repressed all of their 
natural reflexes, also, some people use drugs and alcohol to repress these 
natural feelings of conscience...it's called the "pangs of conscience".
