Jeff, I wrote that in response to your comment about depressed children not being "cured" by SSRIs. But that doesn't mean taking the drugs interferes with your brand of "cure." If they were taking the drugs and were still depressed, it means the drugs weren't working for them. They may have been on the wrong drug, or too little of the drug, or too much. And some cases of depression are resistant to drugs. Depression is multifaceted, very complex, and highly individual. You really can't draw any general conclusions from your anecdotal experience. Not that your approach wouldn't be worth a try, but it's very unlikely to be a cure-all.
