Of course. No argument there. Anger honestly and cleanly expressed is
Truth, another form of Love. To me, the friend was implying their
friendship was over, and Rick was replying that for him it wasn't.
This to me is Love. It is possible I misread the nuances of the
exchange.

-----This is a fun topic.  My two best friends.

(1) I was chef at a restaurant. It was my menu. I ran the whole show. I had my friends help me out once in awhile for cash and they could drink on the job. One night my best friend who had been my best man was fucked up and he was arguing with me about whether we should put parsley on the butter or not. I said, no, just worry about the usual shit. No need to add stuff. He was like, hey, you never do anything I ask.

End of that night I split because I was fed up. The owners closed for me and my best friend stayed late drinking with them. They got him wasted and he told them stories about me, and the next day they fired me. It was 9/10/0000. You know what time it is. 9/11, next day I watched the US go down the tubes with the WTC, my best friend, and my job. All at once.

We're still friends now. I forgave him. Since then he got divorced, (his wife ran off with his bestt friend, and so on). At some point water under the bridge. Until the beavers and the pollution dam it up.

(2) I was in cooking school. My other best friend and I scored some weed and smoked it on class break. We got back to school, and my friend proceeded to have a nervous breakdown and take all his clothes off and commandeer a classroom and got taken away.

Turns out he did it on purpose to get out of the school semester without having to pay. It turns out the program administer had had several nervous breakdowns, which he knew about, and shrewd dude that he was he knew he could get her to let him get out of paying.

I cried that day. I watched him lose his mind, only to find out it was a lie.

We're still friends.

At least I know who the fuck they are. They're not like fair weather friends or anything. They're real friends.
