Judy writes: What would be the goal?
Unc writes: Actual experience with a phenomenon instead of
 just reading about it?
Judy writes:
Is that the goal of TM-Sidhis practice?
Tom T writes:
The supposedly stated goal was to teach one to think from the finest
levels of mental activity. Ie: to learn to function as close to the
transcendent as possible. That being the case most people never got
the unstated or hidden objective. The hidden objective was to get all
the Sidhas to practice Sutra 52 innocently and effortlessly. Sutra 52
as outlined in the Alistair Shearer (MMYs stated superior translation
of Patanjali) of the sutras goes as follows.
Sutra 52: From Sanyama on moments and the succession, the finest
discriminative knowledge is born.
Sutra 53: This enables us to distinguish between two objects that are
to all appearances identical. (the usefulness of this becomes self
evident after awakening)
Sutra 54: Knowledge born of the finest discrimination takes us to the
farthest shore.
It is intuitive, omniscient and beyond all divisions of time and space.
Sutra 55: And when the translucent intellect is as pure as the Self,
there is Enlightenment.
We did sutra 52 innocently because all of us can track time and do
other things simultaneously. Think about all the times you came out of
your meditation at exactly 20 minutes. This ability allowed all of us
to do 52 in total innocence as we did Sanyama on the assigned sutras.
We were doing Sanyama on them as well as the moments and their
succession. This is the only sutra in Patanjali that says that
Enlightenment is the result of doing this sutra. Very clever. Sutra
This also explains what happens to the intellect.
