I disagree and I'll use the John Kennedy/Pope analogy to make my
point.

When Kennedy ran in '60 one of the issues that was raised was his
Catholicism and whether the Pope as the head of the Catholic Church
and the person to whom, in theory anyway, all Catholics are supposed
to be obedient to, would have undue influence on Kennedy should he
be elected President (one of the reasons given for Catholic
presidential candidate Alfred Smith's defeat in '28). Kennedy
addressed the concern and responded to his critics directly. He
emplasized the separation of church and state, etc. See:

http://usinfo.state.gov/usa/infousa/facts/democrac/66.htm

And I, for one, can't imagine that Kennedy would EVER have let the
Pope have undue influence upon him or his presidency.

However, with Scranton is there anyone on this forum that believes
for one minute that MMY would NOT be both an advisor and confidant
to Scranton if he were elected to office? I don't doubt it for a
minute.

Anyone who would:

1) send their kid to MIU for an education and subject the kid to the
cult influences there (and, by the way, I'm an MIU graduate myself);
and

2) allow their kid to participate in the MIU broshure testimonial
referenced to in the article (with all the happy talk and smiley
photos)

...is, if not directly influenced by a cult, can be fairly
considered under suspicion of BEING influenced by that cult. And,
at the very least, is fair game for the kind of investigative
scrutiny that Scranton is now under.

By the way, I am surprised that the question of Scranton's marriage
has not yet been an issue. I heard the rumour more than 20 years
ago that his marriage was either arranged by MMY or that Scranton
got MMY's blessings and permission before he married her...
