I try to eat enough protein with the idea of achieving a zone type of diet. I recommend it, especially if you are sensitive to too-much carbohydrate. When looking for a protein source, maybe 15 years ago, to try to undue the health-damages cause by a Maharishi diet, I decided to add fish. I went with fish because I remembered a friend had told me in 1982 or so that Triguna recommended it to him to build up his agni. I wanted to do that as well and figured fish couldn't be too crude for my delicate TM body if Triguna recommended it. This year, I began eating turkey, and enjoy it a lot. So, I now have two excellent sources of protein, but find neither of them heavy or tamasic in the way that I always viewed red meat was supposed to be. In fact, nothing seems to improve digestion more than hot fish. It should be fishes that swim, and not crustaceans, if you're looking for more agni. I have not tried ostrich.
