But the point is that when you give away the name of the country in the second paragraph, you ruin the impact of the punch line at the end. You were very careful in the rest of it to avoid mentioning the country, so it's clear you were aiming for that surprise in the last sentence. Naming the country in the second paragraph was just an oversight to which I was calling your attention. No big deal, easy to fix, as per my suggestion. I know you sometimes do trial runs of pieces in forums like this that you eventually have published (at least that's what you've told us); I thought I'd alert you to the oversight so you could deal with it before you submitted it elsewhere.
