Perhaps people don't want to talk about MMY's pre-monastic life 
because its not terribly flattering... Or maybe its just not "sexy" 
enough since he's neither the son of extreme wealth or extreme 
poverty so you can't make a big deal out of him overcoming the 
obstacles of affluence or deprivation.
