It's even worse than that. From a Time magazine piece
on the Ryan *conviction* (not just charge!), the very
first sentence:
"On Monday, former Governor George Ryan, 72, became the third of the
state's last six governors to be convicted of political misdeeds, and
the current administration of DEMOCRAT Rod Blagojevich is also being
investigated." [emphasis added]
Nowhere in the piece does it mention Ryan's affiliation.
Josh Marshall of blog Talking Points Memo says this
wins Time the "Ryan-Republican 'party affiliation that
dare not speak its name' award."
