I browsed the book online. His presentation of Shamatha is certainly not very 
TMish!

Because of that, I tend to doubt that his students in the Shamatha 
Project(anyone else note 
the need for a SINGLE teacher to impart a  consistently trained groupo of 
meditators for this 
upcoming study, BTW?) will show very TM-like results, regardless of any 
practical benefits 
documented...
