For the Axis II TM/TMSP practitioner?
What does Axis II mean?
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
classifies psychiatric disorders along 5 axis or levels: domains of
disfunction. Axis II relates largely to personality disorders,
disorders which are (IME) very prevalent in spiritual orgs like the
TMO. The TM org model of "unstressing" largely ignores this
possibility (or even it's intervention through psychological
methods). In this model, evolution is a forward moving proposition
whereby any stall in that forward motion is your own damn fault
(karma) or varying from the prescribed course. If you get stuck, they
have some method (usually very expensive) which is solely
evolutionary. All else is anathema.
Yogis have been familiar with such issues for a long, long time.
Kundalini and meditational disorders and biophysical imbalances from
meditation can exacerbate or even cause such mental states. But from
the POV of yogic practice, these are just mental states. There are
very precise and workable methods to resolve such issues, but few if
any are taught in the TMO. Many involve very personalized instruction.
