For the xml problem i only can thing of changing the folders permissions like i did.
What did you do to fix this exactly? So, if you want the install to run again, you'll probably need to remove the 4 tables, as well as the permissions, and move the call to the method to a better place in the uberoverview.cfm file. The tables all start with "translations" and the permissions all start with "trans" - and you can remove those through the Admin page. If anything goes wrong again with the install code, please let me know as I will try and make sure I have some time this week to fix it (other projects are unfortunately cutting into my time for the project I'm doing the translation plugin for)..
