The feature demo doesn't need to show off every bit of flexibility that FarCry has, but it needs to demonstrate its flexibility to non-cf'ers. Pretty much all that's needed to convince them is to use the admin to be able to make major changes to the site and watch the changes reflected in the browser and to demonstrate how a joe-sixpack can add a new page to the website. Add in a few demos of content reuse (maybe have something showing in 5 different pages) and a custom PLP and they should be happy =) always helps that the price is right (thanks Daemon!)
All of the things you have described bar the custom PLP can be demonstrated in the standard farcry_aura build.
Some possible inclusions in the feature demo site - includes (use of existing cf code)
The sitemap and search includes are examples of include objects.
- multi-page tocs
It's true there is no template to demonstrate this in Farcry_aura. But you would be surprised how infrequently this functionality is requested.
- n-level navigation
n-Level navigation has been discussed at length on the list. We originally had this in the first sample app -- but so many people complained they were confused by the javascript/CSS we removed it entirely.
- image handling
Not sure what you mean by this. You can upload and deploy images out of the box.
- custom objects (with custom PLPs)
Not sure what the point of this is. Custom objects are just like any other object. They are simply stored in the local code base and not in core.
- content reuse (very important!)
There are many ways of doing this. What about using the hand-picked-schedule rule, news rule or other standard publishing rules?
- site map
It is already in the Aura build. You need to add a new include object and select sitemap.
- categorisation
This is already in the Aura build. But you *do* have to add your own keywords.
I'd be willing to make up a nice, snazzy and more corporate looking template (graphics, xhtml + css) and CF coding (though might need some guidance for the farcry specifics).
That's great. We'd be happy to publish it on the site for others to use. Maybe even create a CVS module for it, if it proves popular.
> It's a shame the default
rich-text-editor isn't xhtml compliant as many companies (and government organisations) are now aware of, and would like to adhere to, the disability discrimination act.
All these entities also understand that they have to part with money to obtain such editors. The editor that ships with FarCry is free (we have specific permission from SiteObjects to distribute their lite version). However, out of the box we support several other commerical editors.
Is there an editor you recommend that we should support? We're totally agnostic when it comes to the rich text editor implementation.
