They may think it, but it doesn't make it true, and it's offensive to people who write software, distribute it for free, but don't release source code for valid reasons (for instance, what good is encryption/decryption software with released source code that hackers can look through?). As for free distribution, which the FSF believes is necessary for software to be "free", I personally believe that violates my rights as a developer to ask that people not distribute my software without my permission, and only distribute it WHERE I authorize. Now, if they consider that ethically untainted... too bad, that's the way I deal with MY software.
