Hey I feel your pain and I am in more or less the same position have a job in a legal firm, not doing what i want do be doing at all, but who is at the minute with a law degree or indeed FE1's....
Similar to you though I have been considering looking else where and Australia was my first port of call, had been there two yrs ago and really loved it. I have checked the Law Society in New South Wales, checked the job situation out etc and the route i may need to take if i was to try transfer my degree over and to start training. I applied to the board to have my degree assessed and was told that I would have to do 3-4 semesters in a uni over there before I could commence the Practical Training Programme which is similar to our Blackhall. I have done the college thing though and like you have worked so hard trying to pass these FE1's the last thing I wanted was to start again.. The NY bar was next on the list of options but unless you want to work over there I dont think it will do much good, apart from looking impressive on a cv and costing €5000 to do a course here to help you pass plus flights accomodation and time off to go to the exams.... Next option is a masters, employers seem to like them....and I have been considering going abroad (France, Germany) so I could also get another language in the process...Some of these courses are done through english which makes it a little easier and not so daunting...the goverment also provide funding for this depending on the course and country of choice...... But is this another yr wasted....not getting any younger as Caribou notes, like him I am a few yrs out of college??!!! There are so many people with the FE1's, and no where to use them! Anyone else have any ideas??
