I love my Kindle. A friend had one, and I used it once, and then asked hubby to buy me one for my birthday. Now it lives in my bag and goes everywhere with me.
In addition to all the books I read on it - I can just pick a different book depending on my mood - I also have books for my 6yo on it. So if I'm out shopping or wherever with her and there's going to be a delay I can sit her down and she'll happily read one of her books while I'm otherwise occupied and not bug me or whine or cause havoc. And if she's not nabbing it, my Mum is. She finds it brilliant to use since she is an avid reader, but has arthritis in her hands. The kindle is light and easy to use, and you don't have to hold it open to read, reducing stress on her hands. I also download the newspaper on it every day automatically via the Calibre software on my PC, so that's fast and easy to peruse when I'm out and about during the day. I still read paper books - both from my own library, and the public library, (paper books are getting so darn expensive to buy these days) - but only at home. My kindle is so much more portable. If you did a lot of travelling, an ebook or ebook reader would be absolutely indispensible imho. I guess the most telling thing is that I got my Kindle for my birthday in May. For Christmas, I'm upgrading to a Kindle Touch, buying a Kindle Touch for my mother, giving my Kindle keyboard to my daughter, and buying a Kindle Fire for my husband. Julie J. Does anyone on here have one? Would you recommend it or should i stay with going to the book shop and buying books? Fi x
