spoiler alert

I don't think 'Sorcerer' was/is a third way. i think because Pug isn't limited
to just one path (greater or lesser), like basically every other magician,
makes him a true Sorcerer. Unlimited.

Thats a good point. the only thing i can think of is
Macros, Nakor, Amirantha and his brothers were all touched by
the Gods. Miranda was born from Macros, and we know the
Emerald Queen envied Macros and Nakor's abilities and couldn't
achieve them. Pug was the only one on Midkemia to do it as a
          mortal.

IIRC Macros told Pug and Tomas that he guided Pugs "career"
in order to bring the Greater Path magic to Kelewan. Macros
also mentioned that he was present at the games in Kelewan
when Pug expressed his displeasure at various aspects. Pug
while captive in Kelewan held by the Warlord manages to cast
spells that only a Lesser Path magician can follow. Macros has
also told Pug "that is not like other magicians and doesn't
follow the Greater/Lesser Path" a true sorcerer.. that implies
that there are three varieties of magic available to humans
Lesser Path, Greater Path and Sorcerers.

Pug later learns some eleven magic... making another kind
of magic.. maybe similar to "Druid magic". Throw in demon
magic and that's five different "brands" of magic... without
various kinds of magic in each brand eg: Amirantha's elven
colleagues using Geomancy - one of my more favourite kinds.
Open to debate whether these magic all involve accessing
Nakor's "no magic - only stuff" in some way. The closest way
I could think of describing it was that magic in Midkemia,
Kelewan, Hall of The Worlds et al is that magic is like the
internet... There are many ways of accessing the internet to
do things... Like there is different forms of magic...
Browsers - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome,
Opera... You can use a PC, laptop, netbook, mobile phone, iPad
just like there are devices which produce magic... There are
different jobs involved on the internet like there are
different kinds of magic user/wizards etc.

just my $0.02 worth and I more than welcome debate and contributions
even they are contrary to my own.
