Hi Amy,
I was having the same problem with my Fred, he is CRF. He was steadily losing weight and I finally resorted to feeding him baby food. I try and get him to eat minimum 3 jars of Gerber 2nd food Heinz chicken, he likes the Gerber better, creamier and has double the calories, 4 jars is better yet.

He was down to 8lbs. 4oz. and in a few months I've got him back up to 8lbs. 15oz., doesn't seem like much but for a furkid with CRF that's pretty good. He has had CRF for over 3 years now. Since this is his main diet I add some taurine and a pinch of a muti-vitamin to the first meal to make sure he is getting what he needs, taurine is very important for cats.

Maybe you could try that and take Grrr into the bathroom to feed him his secial food and make it a special bonding time for the two of you, most cats love baby food so it shouldn't take very long for him to eat it. Then you could just leave the other food out and if he eats some of that ... it's a bonus!!
