I think that was a nice thing to do - - no matter what you certainly meant no harm to come to the mouse. If you gave it food & water I don't think you killed it.
Imagine what its fate would certainly have been if you hadn't even tried to help?
You shouldn't feel guilty at all. I think that was a really nice thing to do.

Completely off the beaten path, but on Thursday I rescued a mouse from a window well in my basement, it has been 10 degress and below for 5 or 6 days now, so I thought I would put him in a cage and give him a blanket and food and let him go when it gets warmer.
