I've thought that way before too. If I know an innocent creature needs
help, and I don't at least try, their little faces haunt me. For me,
it's always better to at least try. I don't know what the lesson is,
sometimes we can learn from our mistakes, and be more prepared the next
time. Other times I think it's just a lesson in how little control we
actually have. Keep caring Cherie, keep trying to help whenever you
can. You are a wonderful example of loving concern to your son. He's
