Cherie,
Please don't be so hard on yourself. You did what you thought best, your motives are generous and pure. How could anyone know how long that mouse had? The very fact that you were able to catch him in order to try to help him makes me suspicious about his health. How terrible for you to find that poor little guy dead. I hate to say this, but it's all part of rescue, rescue of any kind. The ones that come to us are usually not healthy to begin with, we can only do what we can do. I'm sorry sweetheart, I know it hurts. It's because we care that it hurts, I guess the two go hand in hand. Much love,
Nina

Completely off the beaten path, but on Thursday I rescued a mouse from a window well in my basement, it has been 10 degress and below for 5 or 6 days now, so I thought I would put him in a cage and give him a blanket and food and let him go when it gets warmer. I kept him in the garage away from the animals and my son, just in case he had something, and this morning I found him dead. What if I left him alone, would he have lived, so now this month I lost a perfectly healthy one day and gone the next Snowball, and now I think I killed this mouse....
Thanks for listening, I have no one else to vent to, since I have to keep a firm upper lip for my son, who is also upset over this.
